About

Welcome to Afternoon Trivia. The trivia questions found on this site are organized by theme, each with about 75-100 questions designed for older people. It is best to run the game with two leaders: an emcee to present the questions and a scorekeeper to keep track of things.  Players compete in teams of 3-7, ideally seated around small tables.

The activity typically lasts about an hour, and it’s best to play in the afternoon while players are energetic.  Prizes can be edible treats, with the winning table getting a little something extra.

The trivia questions are in Word and are downloadable. They are ready to go and have been used before, but you should look over the questions first and perhaps customize them for your group. Apologies for inconsistent formatting!

If you have a set of trivia questions to contribute to this site, please send them to us. We welcome your questions and comments, including suggestions for new themes.

Sarah and Judy, after a session of Afternoon Trivia

Afternoon Trivia was introduced at St. Andrews retirement community, in Richmond, Kentucky, where my late mother, Margaret, lived. She relished all kinds of interesting facts, so my sister Sarah created this game with her in mind and was often one of the leaders. In 2010 with help from recreation director, Kelly Benton, Afternoon Trivia was launched.  I and my other sister Tina, who developed this website, also had fun contributing questions. We have “retired,” but the tradition carries on. With this website, we encourage other communities to establish their own trivia afternoons.

Afternoon Trivia provides a lot of information, fun, and laughter—for players, leaders, and observers!
